About the Instructor
Sandie Bacon
, Golden Paint Working Artist, Silver Brush Educator
Sandie Bacon is a versatile artist proficient in a variety of media: watercolor, acrylics and mixed media. She currently lives in the Chicago area. She shows on a national level, and has won numerous public and private commissions. She has an MFA from Maryland Institute College of Art.

Join us for a close up look at how working with gels and pastes adds texture to your paintings. From glossy gels to granulated grounds, and pixilated pastes, these materials can be used as grounds or mediums- under, in or over other pastes. We will look at adding dimensions, raised stencils, and as adhesives.

Textures, Interference Paints and More

In this day and a half workshop we will develop several paintings using a variety of acrylic grounds and collage elements to create a base coat- Preparing drawing grounds, raised stencils, textures applied with a palette knife to be painted the following day.

From a plexiglass background prepared with pastel ground, to a black background for iridescent and interference paints, to canvases (or papers) we will sample a variety of surfaces. Participants will leave with wonderful samples of paintings- either figurative or abstract. Some paints, gels, pastes and plexiglass will be provided.

NOTE-Students should bring: extra acrylic or watercolor Paints(optional), supports (heavy watercolor or mixed media paper) a variety of acrylic brushes and palette knives (plastic okay),  drawing materials (pastels, colored pencils.). Students can also bring any collage materials you might want to incorporate(optional), and any images you might want to work with.

Art & Good Company

Art & Good Company’s mission is to establish a welcoming place where artist’s can create works of art in an atmosphere of sharing and kindness. A&GC is led by the organization’s founder Marla Payne. Kaleidoscope

Kaleidoscope is a Sheboygan Visual Artists' community outreach program that provides free art workshops for children and adults living in shelters, children participating in Sheboygan County Foster Care and students at the Sheboygan County Juvenile Detention Center. All workshops are led by volunteer artists sharing the joy of art! Founded in 2015, Kaleidoscope has provided over 300 workshops to more than 3,500 participants to date.

SVA Artist Workshops

Are you interested in hosting a workshop at the SVA?
Please submit your idea for a workshop and the SVA committee will review and notify you of approval.
Programs and workshops must be submitted to SVA at least one month prior to your requested date choice(s), for committee  approval. 

Upon approval: 
1. The SVA will work with you on the following:  best date, time, and location within SVA for your class. 
2. You will need to supply the SVA with (1-2) images relating to your workshop for promotion.
3. The SVA will handle all marketing, registration and fees.

If you need assistance in obtaining materials for your workshop, or determining what to charge, the committee is glad to help.
NOTE: A 20% commission will be subtracted from your final check, and a 1099 issued to you if required. The committee will assist you with set up and cleanup.
